In time for Lactose Intolerance Awareness month (February), Yoplait has announced the new Yoplait Lactose Free Yogurt. It's available in four flavors which include strawberry, peach, french vanilla and cherry.
I had the pleasure of trying it out for myself. I expected that since it was lactose free, it wouldn't taste the same. To the surprise of my taste buds, Yoplait Lactose Free yogurt tastes just as good as the regular varieties. If it were given to me as a taste test, i'm quite sure I would not have been able to tell the difference. It still has the live and active cultures and it contains 50% of the recommended daily value of calcium.
Yoplait Lactose Free yogurt contains no artificial sweeteners and can be used in your favorite recipes which call for yogurt. I'm thinking homemade fruit and yogurt parfait cups :).
